Arriving from Italy in the early 1900's, my great grandparents came to the United States in hopes of finding a place to raise their families and were inspired to pursue what so many came to the United States for, The American Dream. Soon after arriving, my great grandparents went to work to make the dream a reality. They opened a small grocery business in Lansing.
After returning from World War II, my great grandfather, John Fabiano and grandmother, Mary joined in business with Grandpa John's brother Frank at the corner of Willow and Knollwood in Lansing, known as Fabiano's Market.
In 1979 my aunt and uncle, Steve and Cindy Fabiano branched out and bought their first business. This was located in beautiful downtown Portland formerly known as Jean's Restaurant and Lounge. In 2008, my father and step mother purchased a small marina/deli/gas station on the south end of Torch Lake, which is now Fabiano's on the River. Just a couple years later they purchased a convenience store right across the river with a beautiful view of Torch Lake. They currently reside "up north" and can still be seen operating both establishments on a daily basis.
Fabiano values and tradition has been long in the family business, which has instilled invaluable lessons about how the customer always comes first and how providing friendly and prompt service to those in the community is of the utmost importance. I am proud of all our employees for continuing to embrace the tradition instilled in my family so long ago, to give pleasant and swift service to all of you with a smile.
So, as a fourth generation local business, the Fabiano family has supported the Portland community for over 35 years and my wife, Rachelle and I are excited to carry on the business for years to come. And we could not have done it without the support of YOU!
Thank you,
William J Fabiano & Rachelle Fabiano
